The Built Environment courses are designed to provide students with a high level of understanding of the design, function, construction and statutory requirements for buildings of all classes and to prepare them for more advanced employment in the construction industry. The programme consists of a combination of core and optional courses which provide appropriate training in each case for students with technical employment in the field of Quantity Surveying (estimators and cost analysts), architectural technicians, building surveying, building control or construction management (site managers). The courses have been designed to include a high level of academic and practical elements. Enrolment on the programme entitles students to become student members of the CIOB, RICS and CIAT.     Assessment All units are graded as pass, merit or distinction. Students must pass each unit to get the overall Diploma qualification at the end of the programme. Assessment is through assignments, including essay, examinations, portfolio building. Careers Students can progress to relevant degree programme at University and/or membership/chartership with relevant construction bodies.
